Peru earned fourth-place finish at the FIVB Girls' U18 Volleyball World Championship, held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on Sunday.
The Peruvian team, coached by Natalia Malaga, lost the third place match for the bronze medal to Brazil in a thrilling four set (25-29, 25-12, 25-23, 25-12).

The Andean country and current South American champions got their best result in 8 participations equivalent to their same position 20 years ago, thus having done a major campaign which places them among the best teams in the world.

Peru players were exhausted after they played 5 sets the night before against China in the semifinal, therefore they couldn't beat Brazil to lose the match in straight sets.

"This is a very high-level competition and some people of our team had a injury and tries with the match against China in yesterday and today our team also did not play our game which was the main cause for our loss,” said David Rodas, team manager of Peru.

The team's  highly spirited performance was followed expectantly throughout Peru, a country in which the young female athletes have won unanimous recognition from spectators as they tried their best to get the U-18's world title.
