The wake for
former President Alberto Fujimori will start Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
The funeral will continue until Saturday, September 14, when his remains will be transferred to Campo Fe Cemetery in Huachipa, where they will receive Christian burial.
Via social media, his daughter Keiko thanked the expressions of solidarity at this painful time.
He passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with cancer, his daughter confirmed.
Alberto Fujimori Fujimori —an agricultural engineer and son of Japanese immigrants— entered Peru's political history after being elected President of the Republic in 1990 and remaining in power until November 2000.
His administration implemented a set of economic reforms and emphasized the counter-subversive fight.
He died at age 86 at his daughter's home in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
