During his participation in the APEC Ministerial Meeting (AMM) on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Ricardo Luna proposed counterparts to take a concrete step towards economic growth based on effective inclusion and gender equality.
Within this framework, Luna presented the initiative as he highlighted
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland's proposal, which underscores the importance of
APEC in supporting the multilateral trade system and offering women an effective participation in its debates.
Likewise, the cabinet member stressed the relevance of making this inclusion an indelible mark on the APEC's economic growth agenda.
According to the government official, the world's economic system —within the current international scenario— remains affected by a regulation opposing free trade, which questions globalization and casts doubt on its benefits, as well as its people's growth and prosperity.
Finally, Luna proposed strengthening ties between regional organizations sharing the same objectives, in order to create synergy and maximize common benefits.
Within this context, he promoted a greater closeness to the
Pacific Alliance, trade bloc composed of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
