The 60th Annual Assembly of the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban), organized jointly with the Peruvian Association of Banks (Asbanc) and held in Lima, concluded on Friday, setting new records.

The forum, held in Peru for the third time in its history, brought together more than 2,450 participants.

In this context, at least 11,000 meetings were held, generating business deals worth over US$22 billion, according to preliminary reports from Felaban.

This edition brought together more than 540 financial institutions from over 50 countries across five continents.

ASBANC Chairman Martín Naranjo highlighted the strengthening of international cooperation through the sharing of experiences on key issues, such as cybersecurity and new technologies, as well as the establishment of new ties that will contribute to the sector's development.

"I am confident that they will lead to projects and cooperation opportunities among our institutions," he indicated.

Naranjo noted that Peru's experience as host has highlighted the country's enormous development potential, but that realizing it requires joint efforts by the State and the private sector.

"Harnessing these opportunities requires us to learn to work better together. It requires the Government and the private sector to pool their capabilities around shared objectives that go beyond short-term circumstances and ensure continuity in our efforts," he underscored.

According to Felaban Secretary General Giorgio Trettenero, the edition held in Lima will help boost business across the region and have a direct impact on Latin America's economy and development.

The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the Senate and Congress of the Republic and Second Vice President of the Republic, Miguel Ángel Torres, who highlighted Peru's appeal as an investment destination.

"The doors remain open for business," he said.

During the closing session, it was also announced that Ronald Gutiérrez will assume the position of Felaban's new chairman for the 2026–2028 term, succeeding Raúl E. Guizado.

Gutiérrez is currently chairman of the Bolivian Association of Private Banks (ASOBAN) and General Manager of Banco Ganadero.
