Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi on Monday participated in the 52nd Regular Session of the Human Rights Council and the Conference on Disarmament.

As part of her work agenda, the Cabinet member delivered a speech at the High-Level Segment of the 52nd Regular Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Similarly, the high-ranking official participated in the 2023 Conference on Disarmament High-Level Segment, where she underscored Peru's commitment to international disarmament and the international non-proliferation regime.

During her speech, Gervasi reminded attendees about Peru's commitment to humanitarian disarmament. She indicated that the South American country has been fulfilling the destruction of its cluster munitions and demining works.

Moreover, the minister reiterated Peru's condemnation of the continuous launch of ballistic missiles by North Korea, plus of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Within this framework, she lamented Russia's recent announcement of suspending its participation in the nuclear arms control treaty.

Furthermore, the minister met with International Organization for Migration (IOM) Deputy Director-General for Management and Reform Amy Pope, who reported on her work plan and highlighted the importance of the private sector in the productive insertion of migrants.

Foreign Affairs Minister Gervasi also recognized the support of said organization in the migratory issue and reaffirmed the importance attached by Peru to the issue, having received more than one million Venezuelans and adding about three million Peruvians abroad.
