The Peruvian government, through the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lamented the loss of human lives in a shooting in Canada. Likewise, it extended condolences to the affected families.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed on X its "condemnation and absolute rejection" of all acts of criminal violence, such as the one that occurred in Canada.
"The Government of Peru deeply laments the loss of human lives caused by the shooting that occurred in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., Canada, and extends its deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic incident," the post stated.
"Peru stands with the Government and people of Canada at this time and expresses its condemnation and absolute rejection of all acts of criminal violence," it added.
As reported by international media outlets, eight people were killed and dozens injured in a shooting at a school and a home in northeastern British Columbia, Canada, on Tuesday afternoon.
Six people were found dead at Tumbler Ridge High School.
The tragedy ranks among Canada's deadliest, following the 2020 Nova Scotia mass shooting which claimed 22 lives and led to a ban on many assault weapons, according to AFP.
