The Peruvian Government expressed its solidarity with the families of those killed and injured as a result of Iranian military attacks amid hostilities in the Middle East, and extended its most heartfelt condolences to them.

"Peru reaffirms its historic commitment to the principles of the United Nations aimed at maintaining peace, the peaceful settlement of disputes, and international security, as well as to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL), and to the unrestricted respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a message via social media on Monday night.

Peru also lamented that the current crisis in the Middle East continues to put civilian lives at risk.

On Sunday, at least nine people were killed after an Iranian missile struck the town of Beit Shemesh, near Jerusalem, according to the latest information from the Israeli search and rescue service Zaka.

The attack left 28 people injured.
