The Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) has started the construction of fast-build hospitals in Lima, Loreto, Lambayeque, and Piura regions, which are equipped with medical gear and hospital beds in order to treat patients with suspected or known covid-19 infection.
It must be noted that these infrastructures will be replicated in Piura, Ucayali, and Ancash regions.
The announcement was made by
EsSalud Executive-President Fiorella Molinelli, who disclosed that the Labor and Employment Promotion Ministry (MTPE) has approved a transfer of S/74 million (around US$21.5 million) to the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) for the implementation of care and temporary isolation centers nationwide, aimed at covid-19 patients.
These resources will be used for the acquisition, leasing, execution, installation, and start-up of temporary health infrastructure and equipment, medical support services, and service counters, for the preparation of hospital and critical care beds at the national level, in order to treat patients infected with the novel coronavirus.
Currently, the already-set-up fast-build hospitals have healthcare personnel to treat covid-19 patients. They provide timely care and treatment with all biosafety measures so as to ensure the safety of health care workers who are on the frontline of this battle.
