The Executive Branch has authorized
's trip to Washington, D.C., in the United States, so that he can participate in various meetings for bilateral cooperation on issues linked to his portfolio.
The regulation indicates that the
U.S. Defense Attaché Office based in Peru announced the
confirmation from the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Western Hemisphere to set up a meeting with Minister Chavez, with the aim
of intensifying the opportunities for bilateral cooperation —within the framework of the
Military Assistance Agreement signed in 1952.
Similarly, the U.S. Defense Attaché coordinated and confirmed meetings with the deputy director for Western Hemisphere Affairs, the senior adviser to the White House on Security and Defense Issues, the chief of the National Guard, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the director of the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies.
Besides, the Peruvian delegation chief at the Inter-American Defense Board has confirmed the minister's meetings with the director of the Inter-American Defense College, and the chair of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board.
Also, the Peruvian Defense Attaché based in the U.S. confirmed coordination meetings with Peru's Naval, Military, and Air Attachés in the North American country.
During his absence, the Defense sector's office will be entrusted to Labor Minister Fernando Varela.
