Peru's copper exports totaled US$13.488 billion between January and November 2018, thus increasing 8.6% compared to the same period the previous year (US$12.421 billion), privately-run National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) reported.
Likewise,
copper exports made up 51.8% of total mining shipments worth US$26.022 billion in the aforementioned period.
SNMPE also indicated foreign
sales of the metal reached US$1.331 billion in November, a 6.1% decrease compared to the same month in 2017 (US$1.417 billion).
The main target markets for said exports were China (65%), Japan (9%), and South Korea (6%).
Gold
On the other hand,
gold exports amounted to US$7.325 billion between January and November 2018, thus dipping 1.5% over the same period the previous year (US$7.439 billion).
In the eleventh month,
gold sales abroad totaled US$624 million. Furthermore, major export destinations were India (30%), Switzerland (29%), and the United States (25%).
Lastly, SNMPE indicated
Peruvian mining exports reached US$26.022 billion between January and November 2018, accounting for 58.7% of total shipments (US$44.354 billion).
