Peru and the State of Utah strengthened their bilateral strategic agenda on trade, investment, and cooperation during a high-level meeting held at Torre Tagle Palace in Lima on Friday.

Ambassador Anderson emphasized that Utah is a key partner for Peru within the United States, with potential to expand projects in sectors such as critical minerals, infrastructure, and agribusiness.

The diplomat noted that the establishment of a Consulate General in Salt Lake City in 2024 reflects the Peruvian government's commitment to this relationship and to the more than 40,000 Peruvians residing in the State.

The visit took place within the framework of activities marking the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Peru and the United States.

In this context, the Secretary General announced that Peru will organize a trade mission to Utah in 2026 focused on textiles, alpaca, jewelry, and specialty foods.

The Utah delegation was composed of legislators and business representatives from the infrastructure, technology, and construction sectors.

It held meetings at the Foreign Affairs Ministry headquarters with the State-run Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion), the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (Promperu), and business associations.

These activities were part of the "Peru–Utah Business Meeting," aimed at identifying concrete opportunities to boost trade and investment.

Peruvian authorities highlighted the strength of the country's macroeconomic fundamentals and the predictability of its regulatory framework, which support a stable business environment.

Likewise, they presented the investment portfolio in infrastructure, energy, transportation, water, and sanitation, along with Peru's export offerings aimed at the Utah market.

It was also reported that Utah's exports to Peru amount to US$22.3 million, while Peruvian exports to the State total US$4 million, including products such as high-quality textiles and superfoods.

This relationship is further strengthened by improved logistical connectivity, including the recent opening of the Salt Lake City–Lima air route and the Paita–Hueneme maritime route.
