"Peru has a firm commitment to taking action. We are bringing forward a proposal for a work plan with nine operational actions ready for validation, which will allow us to immediately launch pilot projects in green hydrogen and distributed generation. We invite METI to establish the working group," he said.
As part of the agenda, the minister held a meeting with the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (Jogmec), during which the progress of international cooperation between both countries was assessed.
The technical assistance consists of providing expertise in image analysis and remote sensing methods for monitoring mining activities.
The fourth workshop will be held in October.
Investment in Peru
Minister Shinno highlighted that another objective of his visit is to foster confidence and achieve greater participation by Japanese companies in infrastructure, mining, and, above all, clean energy.
In this regard, the Minem head met with leaders of Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & Co., and Sumitomo Metal Mining to discuss the companies' interest in new projects in Peru.
The high-ranking official also stated that Peru is a strategic partner of Japan in critical minerals and rare earth supply chains.
"It is necessary to link Peru's potential with Japan’s technological and financial capabilities," he underscored.
The Peruvian high-ranking official thus concluded his activities in Japan.
At APEC, he will promote investment, coordination, and the development of partnerships in clean energy, the resilience of the interconnected electricity system, the expansion of natural gas use, the adoption of efficient technologies, and universal access to energy.
