In 2016, Peru and Italy signed a memorandum with similar characteristics, through which the IMELS project for the adaptation and mitigation of climate change was implemented, thanks to which the Inventory of Glaciers and Lagoons of Glacier Origin was updated.
Similarly, the first National Inventory of Wetlands was developed. The risk estimate for hydrographic basins of the coast and the Amazon with emphasis on coffee and cacao was crafted, and six investment projects in the territory were drawn up, among others.
This memorandum of understanding once again represents an opportunity to access the implementation of joint activities, projects, and programs; as well as the promotion of the development and strengthening of capacities, technology transfer, and technical assistance in climate action, Minam stated.
