Peru: Alianza Lima launches disciplinary action against Zambrano, Trauco and Peña

Peruvian soccer club Alianza Lima announced on Thursday that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against players Carlos Zambrano, Miguel Trauco, and Sergio Peña, as it confirmed their indefinite suspension.

The club stated that it will cooperate with investigations into the alleged sexual abuse involving the three individuals.

The Lima-based institution used its social media platforms to issue a statement on its position regarding the complaint of alleged sexual abuse involving its three players.

In that regard, Alianza Lima stated that formal disciplinary proceedings have been opened against each of them.

Likewise, it confirmed that they have been indefinitely separated from the club.

The sports institution also disclosed it is available to cooperate with authorities while the corresponding investigations are carried out.

Lastly, the club emphasized that it will spare no effort in continuing to promote the values of respect, discipline, and integrity among its members.

Earlier today, Argentina's news channel America 24 reported that players Carlos Zambrano, Miguel Trauco, and Sergio Peña were accused by a 22-year-old woman of "carnal sexual abuse," according to the case file.

The incident occurred during pre-season training in Uruguay, at the Hyatt Centric hotel, where the team was staying in Montevideo.

In response to the widely known events reported by media outlets in recent hours, the Club Alianza Lima informs its supporters and the general public as follows:

1. The club has indefinitely separated the players involved from the men’s first team and has initiated disciplinary proceedings against them, in accordance with our internal regulations.

2. Our institution expresses its full willingness to cooperate with the authorities while the corresponding investigations are carried out.

3. Alianza Lima reaffirms its absolute commitment to the values that define it: respect, discipline, and integrity.
