Peru: 22 hotel projects to be completed by 2021

13:55 | Lima, Jul. 10.

Investments in Peru's tourism sector remain dynamic, since 22 new hotel projects —whose investment exceeds US$789.1 million— will be under construction starting the second half of this year until 2021.

According to Lima Chamber of Commerce's (CCL) Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP), more than 86% of these hotels will be built in Lima.

"The available hotel investment is a response to the recent increase in the tourist flow to the country, which requires higher capacity and a variety of accommodation options," IEDEP Executive Director Cesar Peñaranda expressed.

These four- and five-star hotels will be located in five cities, but most of the projects (17) will be developed in Lima, which entails a total investment of US$682.6 million.

Projects

Three major projects will be carried out in the capital city: Hotel Hilton Museo de Osma (Barranco district), with an investment of US$142 million and operations starting in 2021; Hotel Vista Mar (US$75 million), whose opening is scheduled for 2019; and Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores (US$34 million), whose doors are to open in 2020.

In provinces, hotel initiatives include projects by Sheraton (Cusco), Inkaterra (Piura), Hampton Inn by Hilton (Arequipa and Tarapoto), and a multiregional project by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
