Former Odebrecht representative in Peru Jorge Barata has revealed that the Brazilian company gave money to former Lima mayors Luis Castañeda and Susana Villaran, as well as to ex-mayoral candidate Lourdes Flores, under the code name "campanha regional" (regional campaign).
According to Peruvian media, Barata told Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group that the money was intended to finance Metropolitan Lima mayoral campaigns.
Peruvian prosecutors traveled to Brazil to interrogate the former executive on the new information that Odebrecht provided in September about illegal payments —worth almost US$59 million— to 71 code names for 13 projects between January 2006 and May 2011.
Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group's activities will continue today with the interrogation of former Odebrecht Colombia Director Eleuberto Martorelli —who is believed to have further information on code names.
Last Wednesday, Flores told a local media outlet that Barata might mention her name in his statement.
