Royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton will be seen in a never-before-released photograph snapped by the famed Peruvian Mario Testino for the front cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue.

This latest royal cover follows on from Princess Diana – the late mother of Prince William – starring in a succession of portraits by Testino that featured in the American monthly magazine 14 years ago.

The 56-year-old photographed the royal couple’s engagement celebrations last year, but kept back one shot that will now make up the cover of Vanity Fair’s next issue, which hits the streets in the USA next week.

Testino – who has also photographed the likes of Kim Basinger, Julia Roberts, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga – said that he likes to “perform for people”, hopefully making them “laugh” as he makes “a fool” of himself so as to relax his subjects.

The newlyweds are due in Los Angeles in July.
