The Ministry of Culture will implement an extraordinary extension of opening hours for three museums in the Lambayeque region from November 1 to 15, in conjunction with the “Paths of Pope Leo XIV” route and the upcoming visit of the Supreme Pontiff to the region.

This initiative includes the Brüning National Archaeological Museum, the Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum, and the National Museum of Sicán. These institutions will be open from Monday to Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to provide visitors with greater access to the collections and archaeological heritage they house.

Carlos Wester La Torre, director of the Ministry of Culture’s “Naylamp Lambayeque” Executive Unit (Unit 005), noted that the extended hours will allow visitors to incorporate these cultural sites into their regional itineraries—alongside locations linked to the pastoral work carried out by Leo XIV during his time as Bishop of Chiclayo.

“This measure supports the welcoming of both domestic and international visitors arriving in Lambayeque, and facilitates the creation of itineraries that combine religious sites with the region’s museums—places where the legacy of ancient pre-Hispanic societies is preserved and shared,” stated Wester La Torre.

Furthermore, he announced that on November 13 and 14—coinciding with Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Lambayeque—all six museums in the region will host a special cultural event, featuring activities, interactive experiences, and artistic performances designed for families.

Furthermore, it was specified that the extraordinary extension of operating hours will apply exclusively to the three aforementioned museums; therefore, the Túcume Site Museum, the Huaca Rajada-Sipán Site Museum, and the Huaca Chotuna-Chornancap Site Museum will continue to operate according to their regular schedules.

The Ministry of Culture, through the Executing Unit 005 Naylamp Lambayeque, invites the public to visit these sites and learn about the region’s cultural heritage.
