Israel donates medicines, protective equipment to Peru

02:22 | Lima, Aug. 11.

The Government of Israel made a donation of medicines to Peru's Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud), as well as a ton of personal protective equipment to the Armed Forces and National Police, the South American country's Foreign Affairs Ministry has reported.

Thus, Israel contributes to the fight against COVID-19 that the Peruvian Government has undertaken.

It is appropriate to point out that the medicines will be used by EsSalud for the care of the insured and uninsured population, as well as for the primary care of vulnerable populations and cancer patients.

Likewise, personal protective equipment will allow military and police personnel to rely on appropriate clothing, considering that they are on the front line in the fight against the new coronavirus.

It must be noted that Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Mario Lopez also met with Israeli Ambassador Asaf Ichilevich.

On the occasion, they addressed greater possibilities for cooperation to face the pandemic, as well as the perspectives to strengthen bilateral relations on political and trade issues, in addition to cooperation in innovation.
