The
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will visit Peru to observe the human rights situation in the context of the institutional crisis and social protests that have occurred since early December 2022.
The visit will take place from January 11 to 13 in Lima and other cities across the country so as to meet, discuss, and receive information from various sectors.
In addition, it is made up of Commissioner Joel Hernandez, with the support of Assistant Executive Secretary for the Monitoring, Promotion and Technical Cooperation Maria Claudia Pulido, Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression Pedro Vaca, and the technical team of the IACHR's Executive Secretariat.
The Commission will meet with public authorities, civil society organizations, and other relevant actors.
As a result of the visit, in the exercise of its functions, the IACHR plans to forward its observations, conclusions, and recommendations to the Peruvian State.
The IACHR reported that information will be received only via e-mail and must be sent to CIDHDenuncias@oas.org.

The Commission appreciates the openness of the State of Peru to cooperate and engage in dialogue within the framework of its human rights obligations in the Inter-American System, and welcomes its willingness to receive it in the country.
About the IACHR
It is composed of seven independent members who serve in a personal capacity.
Created by the OAS in 1959, the Commission has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. Together with the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, installed in 1979, the Commission is one of the institutions within the inter-American system for the protection of human rights (IAHRS).
