13:44 | Trujillo, Feb. 28 (ANDINA).
This week, workers began the restoration of the historical monument La Libertad located in Trujillo’s main square, northern Peru, which suffered serious damage over the years.
Studies conducted as part of the redesigning and restoration project showed that the monument, which dates from the republican era, has been damaged by fungi affecting the marble structure.
Within the ninety-business-day period, the contractor company La Union SA will install four fountains around the monument, which will display lighting effects in the water by using advanced technology equipments.
The architect responsible for the works, Victor Chang Joo, pointed out the project required an investment of about 370,370 dollars, and was approved by specialists and technicians from Peru’s National Institute of Culture (INC) of La Libertad.
