Head of State honors Russian president with Peru's Order of the Sun

The head of state, Alan García, honored today Russian President, Dmitry Medvédev, with Peru’s Order of the Sun, Grand Cross in Brilliants, in the framework of his official visit to our country.

This ceremony was held at the Golden hall of the Government Palace, in the presence of high-ranking authorities from both countries.

García said that this decoration was awarded in recognition of Russian president contribution to the strengthening of relations between both countries, as well as his personal and professional achievements.

"Let me give you the Order of the Sun that in 1821, in this same place, liberator José de San Martín created to reward leaders and those who contribute to the independence, development and presence of Peru around the world, "he said.

President of Russian Federation expressed his gratitude for the high honor conferred upon him by the Peruvian State.

"It is an honor for me to receive this award, and it is also a clear demonstration that we firmly intend to consolidate our bilateral relations in favor of our nations. It is an honor to receive this award from your hands, "he said.

The ceremony concluded with the greeting of both presidents.

After that, Garcia shared hands with his Russian counterpart at the Gate of the Government Palace in Lima.
