Within this framework, both authorities discussed several topics, including territoriality and the possibility of positioning regional brands in the Peru Brand style.
"The Marca Peru (Peru Brand) is a matter of national pride, but there is also interest in having Marca Cusco (Cusco Brand), Marca Amazonas (Amazonas Brand), and Marca Ayacucho (Ayacucho Brand)," Mathews said in remarks to Andina news agency.
The Peruvian government official mentioned that Spain's experience in positioning territorial brands does not mean competition, but rather complementarity.
Secondly, he indicated that they talked about the transfer of experiences regarding smart tourism destinations. He added Spain has already done so with other countries.
"There, some possibility of collaboration is being explored with the CAF to develop an experience that they have harnessed much better than us," he said.
Gastronomic experience
At this meeting, the officials also discussed the gastronomic experience of both countries considering that they are benchmarks worldwide.
"They are world benchmarks in gastronomy, and so are we (...) there is a space to cooperate on this issue," he highlighted.
The minister underscored that the meeting with his Spanish counterpart served to share experiences in terms of know-how in the tourism sector.
