The 60th Annual Assembly of the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban) opened with a welcome address by Peruvian Association of Banks (Asbanc) Chairman Martín Naranjo, who issued a strong call to shield digital transformation through high standards of security and transparency.

The international gathering brings together leading figures from across the continent's financial system to discuss emerging priorities for economic development and exchange experiences.

In his opening speech, the business association leader underscored that this meeting represents a strategic platform for strengthening business ties and gaining first-hand knowledge of the situation and soundness of local financial institutions.

Asbanc's chairman emphasized that technological progress in banking cannot be conceived separately from user protection, noting that cybersecurity must serve as a cross-cutting and decisive support to ensure clear rules governing the handling of and access to information.

Likewise, the head of Asbanc highlighted the importance of coordinating efforts among different work teams facing similar operational and regulatory challenges in distinct geographical and economic contexts.

In an environment where digital agility is imperative, he indicated that integrating experiences and customer service methods strengthens the sector's resilience throughout the region.

The executive expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Peruvian Government and the public institutions that helped organize the event's secretariat.

He emphasized that this summit establishes the local financial market as a key meeting point to project opportunities onto international markets and strengthen long-term partnerships.
