This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry via X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday evening.
The
OECD secretary-general indicated that the Government of Peru has been making progress in the execution of the roadmap presented in 2023,
"despite the difficult international situation."
Similarly,
Cormann reported that by mid-2025 all reviews will have been completed, pending evaluation of compliance with the recommendations that this organization makes to our country.
Likewise, he thanked Peru for the decision to send the OECD to the SOM APEC and encouraged substantive participation in the organization's ministerial meeting to be held in Peru next May.
In turn,
Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea reaffirmed Peru's political commitment to the OECD accession process and the priority granted to it by the Government of President Dina Boluarte.
In that sense,
Cormann encouraged our country to
"keep that momentum."
Moreover,
Gonzalez-Olaechea underscored that Peru shares the same OECD values, such as the defense of freedom, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights.
The Cabinet member also emphasized that this process is beneficial as a catalyst to achieve substantive reforms for inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development in favor of all Peruvian citizens.
Lastly, he underlined that Peru has various strengths such as its macroeconomic stability and legality.
This meeting took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2024 currently underway in Davos, Switzerland.
