highlighted the qualities of Peru's foreign policy during a masterclass held to mark the inauguration of the 2025 academic year at the Javier Perez de Cuellar Diplomatic Academy of Peru in Lima.
In his presentation, titled "Challenges for Peru's Foreign Policy in a Changing World," the diplomat stated that the South American country's foreign policy stands out for its active neutrality, as part of a strategy to preserve the State's decisions.
The ambassador added that these strategies will be implemented in response to the dynamics of global confrontation, without implying a renunciation of Peru's commitments and cooperative vocation.
"And that is, without a doubt, one of the great strengths of our diplomacy: its recognized capacity for broad dialogue, its credibility, its multilateral vocation, and its willingness to act as a facilitator in spaces where understanding seems most difficult," he pointed out.
During his speech, Minister Schialer stated that Peru's foreign policy actions must be complemented by a strategic pragmatic approach.
He added that, in light of recent times of uncertainty, Peru must avoid rigid alignments but without giving up an effective and results-oriented international presence, prioritizing the national interest.
"To the concrete defense of the conditions that ensure the well-being, security, and development of our people," he added.
Lastly, the aspiring members of the Republic's Diplomatic Service were reminded that representing Peru is a privilege that carries the duty to live up to its obligations, challenges, aspirations, and history.
"It is an ongoing commitment to its defense, its image, its development, and its place in the world," Minister Schialer concluded.
