By Dany Seminario CoronadoPucallpa, the capital of the Ucayali region, hosts the opening today, Thursday the 22nd, of the 15th edition of ExpoAmazónica 2026, which will run until Sunday, October 25, at the Yarinacocha Fairgrounds.
As one of the most significant trade fairs in the Peruvian Amazon, the event anticipates an attendance of over 60,000 people, featuring exhibitors and producers from various Amazonian regions.
The fair includes 400 exhibition and sales stands, showcasing products from the regions of Ucayali, San Martín, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Amazonas, Huánuco, and Cusco.
Offerings will include coffee, cacao and its derivatives, honey, agro-industrial food products, handicrafts, timber, aquaculture products, and initiatives related to tourism and technology.
Activities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a colorful parade featuring delegations from all the participating regions. The procession starts at the Yarinacocha Plaza de Armas and heads toward the fairgrounds for the inauguration ceremony, which will officially open the event.
Regional authorities are expected to participate in ExpoAmazónica 2026, including the governors of Amazonas, Gilmer Horna Corrales; Cusco, Werner Salcedo Álvarez; Huánuco, Antonio Pulgar Lucas; Madre de Dios, Lisett Sharon Revollar Cáceres; San Martín, Walter Grundel Jiménez; and Loreto, Jorge René Chávez Silvano. International Buyers and Business Opportunities
One of the key components of this edition will be an international export business matchmaking event, organized by PromPerú in coordination with the Regional Government of Ucayali. This initiative will bring together 33 foreign buyers from 12 markets, along with more than 60 companies, cooperatives, associations, and producers from the Amazon region.
The buyers will arrive from China, South Korea, the United States, France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, Taiwan, Belgium, and Portugal. The meetings aim to establish commercial contacts and explore opportunities to introduce Amazonian products into international markets.
The event is expected to generate approximately $7 million in projected business value. This figure represents anticipated commercial opportunities rather than finalized sales.
The program also includes an "export clinic" designed for over 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), providing guidance on identifying challenges and strengthening their capacity to access foreign markets.
In the tourism sector, a business matchmaking session is planned, involving 15 buyers and approximately 25 tourism companies from the participating regions.
Gastronomy, tourism, and indigenous enterprises
The fair will feature restaurants representing the Peruvian Amazon, as well as live culinary demonstrations where chefs will prepare dishes using ingredients characteristic of the region. These activities will showcase the gastronomic diversity of the rainforest and promote the products used in its cuisine.
Tourism will also be highlighted, with a dedicated space for promoting Amazonian destinations and experiences. Through meetings between tour operators and industry businesses, the goal is to expand commercial opportunities for tourism services and increase the visibility of attractions within the participating regions.
Another key activity is the 2nd Indigenous Expo, which will bring together native communities and indigenous peoples to showcase their products, business ventures, and traditional knowledge.
The objective is to highlight their economic and cultural activities, as well as their role in the conservation of Amazonian ecosystems. Also on the agenda is the 7th Congress of Amazonian Entrepreneurs (CEA 2026), which will address proposals for the development of the Peruvian Amazon with a vision toward 2050.
Its key themes include a sustainable economy, the conservation of forests and biodiversity, the bioeconomy, technological innovation, and the strengthening of regional business ventures.
