Dutch chain of warehouse clubs Makro, that joined on Monday Peruvian market with its first store located in Lima, is investing US$ 35 million this year to open 3 stores in the country; this amount includes land price and the construction of each store, Makro General Manager Pieter Boone reported.

“We are building the second store to be located in Callao and we expect it will be opened in October or November,” he said.

The first Makro store was opened on Monday at new Plaza Norte Shopping Center, in the district of Independencia (Lima).

“We invested US$ 5.5 million in this Makro store and it has an area of 5.8000 square meters,” he added.

The third store will be located in Arequipa and Makro has launched a tender to build this store; this work must begin in August, on a plot of 4.500 square meters.

He emphasized that this enterprise plans to open 4 stores in 2010, with an investment of US$ 35 million; two stores will be located in Lima and two in provinces.
