"These commitments are of a different nature, but all of utmost importance, which aim to improve the standard of living of our Ecuadorian and Peruvian brothers and sisters," the Head of State expressed.
The top official recalled that 80% —of the more than 90 commitments made in the previous cabinet held in 2018— were fulfilled, and the remaining percentage is currently under implementation.
Likewise, the statesman said that friendship, stability, and shared values on the defense of democracy and the fight against corruption must be translated into greater integration.
Therefore, he remarked, it is important to continue working to complete the five road axes between both countries and streamline bureaucratic procedures at the border.
In addition, he highlighted the agreement to combat common crimes and articulate civil defense systems to be prepared for the time nature tests the population and its authorities.
It must be noted Binational Cabinets constitute a mechanism for political dialogue between two countries with the purpose of working on specific issues of common concern included in the bilateral agenda.
The 13th Peru-Ecuador Binational Cabinet had five thematic axes of work: Social and cultural issues; Production, trade, investment, and tourism-related issues; Environmental, energy, and mining issues; Infrastructure and connectivity; Security and defense.
