12:00 | Bremen, Aug. 28 (ANDINA).
Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro, who scored both goals in Werder Bremen's 2-0 win over FK Aktobe, has set his eyes firmly on winning the UEFA Europa League now that the German side has reached the tournament's Group Stage.
The Peru international was delighted about Wednesday's success: "Things are really going well for me right now but the important thing is that we won this game as a team and kept a clean sheet."
"It’s always good to score an early goal away from home. We knew that they were going to press forward, which left room for us to counter attack, and we made good use of that," he added.
Last season, Pizarro's 28 goals for Werder Bremen not only took Thomas Schaaf's men to the UEFA Cup final against FC Shakhtar Donetsk, but also to a German Cup final with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
"Last year we were in the final and we want to win this competition now," said Pizarro, making the target for the Europa-League very clear.
