12:16 | Chancay (Lima region), Oct. 13.
The Festival del Chancho al Palo (Spit-Roasted Pork Festival) held over the weekend in the city of Chancay, was a complete success.
The presence of thousands of visitors generated significant economic revenue in this district of Huaral province, Lima region.
Therefore, the organizers announced that the festival's 2026 edition will take place in the city as well.
Tourists and visitors came to Chancay from various parts of the country. All of them were eager to follow the unmissable route of flavors, which offered not only gastronomy but also art, theater, and a variety of dances that delighted many attendees.
The event drew over 30,000 attendees, with local businesses and transportation services being the main beneficiaries.
More than one visitor used a mototaxi to get to the grand fair; accommodations were fully booked, and several local brands and ventures had the opportunity to showcase themselves to local and national media attending the event.
In summary, the 11th edition of Festival del Chancho al Palo (Spit-Roasted Pork Festival) was a major showcase for both large and small businesses in Huaral and Chancay, which saw their economies boosted over three days with significant revenue for their establishments.
But the fair brought together various ventures and sectors, from exotic drinks made with local fruits to traditional dishes such as Causa Chancayana (Peruvian layered potato dish), filled with mollusks and spices.
Spit-roasted chicken was another highlight, and all kinds of cuchareables (spoonable dishes) —especially traditional sweets, ice creams, and artisanal fruit slushes— were the most in-demand due to the intense sun on Sunday morning and afternoon.
The Chancay Romulo Shaw Cisneros Stadium was completely full; there were no spaces in the food courts, and attendees secured a spot on the grass to enjoy their favorite dish and drink.
The explosion of flavors from Huaral and Chancay's gastronomy brought together over 80 cooks and around 160 kitchen and service staff.
Despite this, all the stands were crowded, with diners sometimes forming lines in search of their favorite dishes.
The gastronomic and cultural Festival marks a milestone in Chancay's culinary scene, as it is the first major food fair held in said district.

Chancay to host the 2026 festival
According to Ahora Huaral chief, there is a strong possibility that the Chancay Port will once again host the 12th edition of the Festival del Chancho al Palo in 2026, due to its great reception among local attendees and the high quality of its exhibitors.
After closing the 11th Festival del Chancho al Palo – Chancay 2025, Balcazar expressed her satisfaction as the number of attendees exceeded 30,000, drawn by the high-quality gastronomy, especially the spit-roasted pork.
"Chancay has been amazing, and for us it has been a great challenge to change the venue and witness the support from the authorities, especially from its mayor, Juan Alvarez. He facilitated social support in coordination with the Redondos brand, donating 2,000 portions of spit-roasted pork to the district's economically disadvantaged population," she stated.
The Ahora Huaral head announced that the next step will be the analysis carried out by her board, a preliminary step before confirming Chancay as the host of the 2026 edition.
"There is a strong possibility that Chancay will once again be the host, thanks to the great response from attendees from the area, as well as from Lima, Huaral, Huacho, Supe, and Huaura, among others," she said.
The guild's leader announced that around 80 exhibitors are expected for the 2026 edition, the vast majority coming from Lima region's northern area.
Lastly, Balcazar announced that restaurants affiliated with the business guild will organize the National Day of Chancho al Palo (Spit-Roasted Pork) at their own establishments on the third Sunday of October.
"You are cordially invited, as we will be offering our signature dish at fair prices, along with raffles and other activities," she concluded.
