Ignacio Buse continues to write memorable pages in the history of Peruvian tennis.
The athlete —a member of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD)'s Athlete Support Program (PAD)— reached No. 30 in the ATP rankings after winning the ATP 250 in Winston-Salem, where he defeated Britain's Arthur Fery 6-3, 6-2 in the final.
With this position, Buse became the third-highest-ranked Peruvian tennis player of the professional era, behind only Jaime Yzaga, a No. 18 player in October 1989, and Pablo Arraya, who reached No. 29 in August 1984.
The national tennis player's rise also enabled him to surpass the mark set by Luis Horna, who reached No. 33 in the ATP rankings in August 2004.
The all-time ranking of Peruvian tennis players with the highest ATP rankings is led by Jaime Yzaga (No. 18), followed by Pablo Arraya (No. 29), Ignacio Buse (No. 30), Luis Horna (No. 33), Juan Pablo Varillas (No. 60), and Carlos Di Laura (No. 92).
This new achievement confirms Buse's international potential.
It also strengthens his presence among the leading players in world tennis.
His next challenge will be the US Open, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments on the professional calendar.
The Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) highlights this achievement as a reflection of the effort, dedication, and preparation of athletes supported through its assistance programs.
