BCR: Peru's traditional exports up 30.2% in June 2026

00:30 | Lima, Aug. 23.

Traditional product exports totaled US$7.112 billion in June 2026, recording 30.2% year-on-year growth, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

The result was mainly explained by a 33.3% year-on-year rise in export prices, driven by higher copper, gold, and lead quotations, with the latter benefiting from the silver content of its shipments.

Hydrocarbons also recorded higher export prices, in line with the increase in international quotations associated with the conflict in the Middle East, it explained.

In contrast, in volume terms, exports declined by 2.6%, due to lower mining output and difficulties shipping copper and zinc concentrates, as well as the effects of El Niño phenomenon on fishmeal and fish oil production.

During the first half of the year, the value of traditional product exports grew 49.4% compared with the same period a year earlier, reaching US$45.715 billion.

This increase was driven by higher prices, which rose 45.2%.
