In monthly terms, consumer credit rose 1.9%, according to the BCR.
The annual growth rates of consumer loans granted in Peruvian soles and U.S. dollars were 12.2% and 22.3%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the dollarization rate stood at 5.8%.
By type of credit
By credit type, vehicle loans grew by 2.2% month-on-month in August, accelerating their annual growth rate to 12.5%, after recording a 10.8% increase in July.
The dollarization ratio remained at 7.5%, according to the BCR.
Credit card loans increased 2.3% in August and grew 11.9% year-on-year, compared with 9.5% in July.
Consequently, the dollarization ratio declined to 12.3%.
The monthly variation rate of the remaining consumer loans was 1.8% in August.
Thus, annual growth increased from 12% in July to 12.9% in August.
The dollarization ratio remained at 4.4%.
