Mortgage loan placements recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 7.6% in July 2026, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

It is worth recalling that mortgage lending has shown a faster expansion pace after growing 7.4% year-on-year last June.

According to the BCR, this increase in loans granted to individuals for home purchases was mainly driven by the year-on-year growth in mortgage loans granted in local currency.

These expanded 8.1% year-on-year in July, while those granted in foreign currency fell 2.1%.

On a monthly basis, mortgage lending increased 0.4% in July, driven by loans granted in Peruvian soles, which grew 0.4%.

Housing loans granted in U.S. dollars posted a 0.2% variation in July.

Likewise, the preference for financing home purchases in soles remains in place, the BCR underscored.

In July 2026, only 5.6% of loans in this category were granted in dollars.

Meanwhile, the remainder were granted in soles.
