During a ceremony held in Washington, D.C., Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea, authorities from countries in the Americas, and the Peruvian community celebrated Peru's 203rd Independence Anniversary.

Among the guests were Foreign Affairs Ministers Gabriela Sommerfeld (Ecuador) and Omar Paganini (Uruguay); Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Ilan Goldfajn; Peru's Ambassador to the U.S. Alfredo Ferrero; Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, Ambassador Brian Nichols; and other distinguished authorities.

In his speech, Minister Gonzalez-Olaechea underscored that, during his current tenure, implementing a Reinforced Foreign Policy that enables Peru to become a positive, active, and proactive actor on the regional and global stage is the priority.

He emphasized that it is his fourth official trip to the United States in eight months in office, this time to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity (APEP) —an initiative aimed at harnessing the region's economic potential.

The government official added that Peru and the United States agree on various regional and global mechanisms to address important issues, such as democracy, migration, and the global fight against drugs in a coordinated manner.

Among them are the APEP and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

Moreover, the Cabinet member indicated that the Peruvian Government's intention is to consolidate the strategic partnership with the U.S. through cooperation, trade, investments, as well as the defense of values and principles uniting us.

Therefore, the Embassy of Peru and its fifteen consulates throughout the United States have the crucial task of revitalizing our shared history's success.
