Leaders from the economies that make up the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on Saturday participated in the official group photo, marking the conclusion of activities under Peru's leadership for 2024.

Alongside her were leaders from APEC economies, including Joe Biden (United States), Xi Jinping (People's Republic of China), Justin Trudeau (Canada), Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Brunei Darussalam), Prabowo Subianto (Indonesia), Yoon Suk-Yeol (Republic of Korea), Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim (Malaysia), and Gabriel Boric (Chile), among other high-ranking officials.

The leaders wore traditional Peruvian alpaca-fur scarves for the photo.

Earlier, Peru's economic leader emphasized in her remarks at the APEC Leaders' Retreat that significant strides were made towards a vision of economic growth and resilience in the region through the adoption of key deliverables.

"We are united by a shared commitment to economic growth and resilience in our region. In this context, it is important to highlight that APEC has made significant strides toward this vision by adopting key deliverables," she stated.

Mrs. Boluarte indicated that among these achievements is the development and implementation of low-carbon hydrogen policy frameworks in the Asia-Pacific, which she emphasized as "crucial for the transition toward greener economies."

She noted that the second most significant achievement is the set of principles aimed at reducing and preventing food loss and waste, "a challenge that affects both our environmental and economic sustainability."

Additionally, during the dialogue among leaders of APEC's 21 economies, discussions focused on the role of digitalization and innovation in advancing the transition toward a formal and global economy, as well as the importance of collaborative efforts to navigate current global challenges.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
