An animated short film of Machu Picchu made by French moviemakers has become a hit on YouTube just when celebrations for the 100th anniversary of its scientific discovery are around the corner. The main characters are a little boy, his llama and a pilot.

The short 3D film was made at Supinfocom Arles in 2008 by Clement Croq, Margaux Durand-Rival and Nicolas Novali. The film has many hits on YouTube as it is considered a great film and shows the different aspects of the Andean view of the world.

“Machu Picchu Post” tells the story about an unexpected meeting between a young Peruvian boy living with his lama and a pilot from the airmail flying above the boy's house in the Andes.

The authors noted that they had to do some research regarding the cloths of the little kid, the plane and the lama when they were doing the first sketches of the film.

Then they decided to look for images from Peru, Machu Picchu and Andean villages as well as paintings, deities and more. “It was really hard, but it made the rest of the work easier,” noted the artists.
