Peru's sustained tourism recovery continues to advance steadily, as visitors from across the world keep arriving to discover our country's historic wonders, savor its renowned cuisine, and enjoy its diverse geography.
Between January and November 2025, Peru welcomed 3,810,219 international visitors, representing a 4.5% increase compared with the same period in 2024 and a recovery of 78.6% relative to the corresponding pre-pandemic period in 2019.
The top six source countries of tourists to Peru
Leading the list of tourist source countries to Peru is Chile, with 1,182,764 visitors, accounting for 31% of the total.
It is followed by the United States, with 566,000 visitors (14.9%), while Ecuador ranks third, with 321,000 visitors (8.4%).
In fourth place is Bolivia with 206,000 visitors (5.4%), followed closely by Brazil, with 205,000 visitors (5.4%). Colombia ranks sixth, with 177,000 visitors (4.6%).
"Together, these markets accounted for 69.7% of total international arrivals in the country," Mincetur highlighted.
At the regional bloc level, South America accounted for the largest share of international visitor flows, representing 59.1% of the total, or approximately 2.3 million people.
North America accounted for 19.4% of arrivals, with 740,000 visitors; Europe represented 14.5%, with 552,000; Asia 3.5%, with 135,000; and Central America 2.4%, with 90,000 visitors—highlighting a balanced recovery across Peru's main source markets.
According to Mincetur's Tourism Report, of the total number of international visitors, 3,130,121 were international tourists, whereas 680,098 were international excursionists.
Tourists accounted for 82.2% of the total, while excursionists represented 17.8%, underscoring strong and diversified demand for Peru's tourism offerings.
Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Teresa Mera highlighted the positive impact of these results.
"Tourism is a key engine for Peru's development. These more than 3.8 million international visitors represent a positive impact on job creation and economic growth," she stated.
Points of entry
Regarding points of entry into Peru, Jorge Chavez International Airport (Lima) recorded the highest number of international visitors, with 2.13 million arrivals, accounting for 55.9% of the total.
They were followed by the Santa Rosa Border Control Post, with 1 million visitors (27%); the Tumbes Binational Border Service Center, with 247,000 (6.5%); and the Desaguadero–Carancas–CEBAF Puno Border Control Post, which recorded 170,000 arrivals (4.5%).
Lastly, regarding outbound tourism, the number of trips abroad by Peruvian residents reached 3,744,630 between January and November 2025.
Of this total, 3,088,511 were tourists (82.5%) and 656,119 were excursionists (17.5%), reflecting a positive trend in the country's outbound tourism flows.
