Peru: Blueberry exports from Ica to U.S. up 38% in 2025–2026 season

Peru's Ica region exported 23,768 metric tons of blueberries to the United States through week 50 of the 2025–2026 season, representing a 38% increase over the previous season, according to the latest report from the Association of Blueberry Producers of Peru (ProArandanos).

ProArandanos General Manager Luis Miguel Vegas Arias Stella told Andina News Agency that Ica shipped 46,784 metric tons of blueberries, out of the 317,605 metric tons exported by Peru to various international markets during the current season.

He explained that Ica ranks as Peru's third-largest blueberry exporter.

La Libertad region leads nationwide, having exported 152,869 metric tons through the current season's week 50, followed by Lambayeque, which shipped 76,991 metric tons of the fruit to international markets.

Ica exported 8,205 metric tons of blueberries to Europe; 7,889 metric tons to China; 3,030 metric tons to the United Kingdom; and 3,893 metric tons of this fruit to other international destinations.

This fruit is rich in antioxidants, as well as in vitamins C and K.


U.S.: the main market

According to ProArandanos' Weekly Report, Peru exported 145,873 metric tons of blueberries to the United States.

It is the largest export market and accounts for 46% of total shipped volume.


Most exported variety

Among the blueberry varieties shipped to the United States, Ventura remains the leading selection, accounting for 20% of total shipments.

It is followed by Sekoya Pop (14%), Biloxi (11%), Magica (11%), Rocio (8%), and other varieties (35%).

This distribution reaffirms the U.S. market's preference for high-yield, high-quality fruit.

A total of 89,921 metric tons of blueberries were shipped to Europe, while 43,592 metric tons were sent to China, 16,721 metric tons to the United Kingdom, and 21,499 metric tons to other international markets.


Data

Of the 317,605 metric tons exported by Peru, 290,350 metric tons correspond to conventional blueberries, while 27,255 metric tons are organic ones.
