Peru ready to face Scotland in friendly tonight

00:00 | Lima, May. 29.

Peru's national soccer team will on Tuesday night face Scottish counterpart in a friendly match as preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

The clash will be held at Lima's National Stadium at 8:00 PM (local time).

A total of 35,000 tickets have been allocated for this sporting event.

It must be noted this game will mark the Inca squad's farewell to the South American country. Local fans are expecting a national victory.

On Wednesday, the red-white will travel to Europe to play its last two friendlies prior to the World Cup tournament. Within this framework, the national squad will face Saudi Arabia in Switzerland (June 3), and host-team Sweden (June 9).

Led by coach Ricardo Gareca, Peruvians have held a series of training sessions with the aim of giving their best performance at FIFA's flagship event, which will start on June 14.

Peru belongs to Group C. The red-white squad's first match will be played against Denmark (June 16). Then, the Incas will clash with France (June 21) before facing Australia (June 26).

In mid-May, Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) announced its preliminary list of athletes expected to participate in soccer's mega event.

Unfortunately, captain and top striker Paolo Guerrero was not included in the draft as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) increased a ban against him from 6 to 14 months.

Guerrero expressed full confidence in the Swiss Federal Court, to which he appealed as a last resort to play at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
