More than 200 Russian tour operators visited Casa Peru in Moscow, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) informed.
On the occasion, representatives of tourism companies were able to learn about Peru's main tourist destinations,
gastronomy, and various cultural expressions.
Titled "20 Reasons to Visit Peru," the major exhibition was hosted by Russian journalist Ivan Vasin, who will soon visit the Andean country thanks to a press trip organized by PromPeru.
While touring
Casa Peru, tourism enterprises' representatives enjoyed Peruvian cuisine, as well as national flagship drink
pisco to the beat of traditional rhythms.
With this initiative, the Government seeks to increase tourist flows into the South American country. Said economic activity currently accounts for 3.9% of national GDP, as well as generates over 1.3 million direct and indirect jobs.
Casa Peru brings together the best exportable offer from the country's coast, highlands, and jungle. It also features art exhibitions, traditional dances, among other cultural activities.
As part of promotion efforts,
Casa Peru also has a trailer that will visit Sochi, the city where the national soccer team will play its last World Cup match. It must be noted this vehicle has already visited Moscow, Saransk, and Ekaterinburg.
The initiative's main aim is to persuade tourists and locals attending soccer's mega event to become "red-white fans" and cheer the Incas on, as well as travel to the Andean country in the near future.
This strategy is led by PromPeru in partnership with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Culture Ministry, and Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex), as well as several regional governments.
Casa Peru in Moscow will be open thru June 28 at Manege Exhibition Center, near Moscow's Red Square.
