Peru among Bloomberg's 2017 top travel destinations

Peru has been included in Bloomberg's "Where to Go in 2017" list featuring the top 20 travel destinations for the current year.

The U.S. news giant highlights the country's increasing tourism services, such as the first luxury sleeper train connecting Cusco to traditional villages around Lake Titicaca, to be inaugurated in May. 


Likewise, it invites visitors to think outside the box and —in addition to Machu Picchu— take in the breathtaking views of Veronica and Sawasiray snow-capped mountains, as well as the Incan salt pans of Maras. 


The list also mentions another Peruvian must-see: Lake Titicaca in South-Andean Puno region. This mystical spot and its "endless horizon" await those who dare to venture into uncrowded routes. 


Likewise, Bloomberg lists "stunningly remote treks" with travel operators for the adventure tourist, as well as "off-the-beaten-path" trips for bikers. 

"Where to Go in 2017" also includes Finland, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Iran and Colombia.

The New York Times

This major recognition adds to the Sacred Valley's (Cusco region) recent mention in The New York Times' prestigious "52 Places to Go in 2017" edition. 


Located in the South Andean region's Urubamba Valley, the destination is one of the only-three South American landmarks to have been included in this year's list, usually setting the trend in the travel industry.

Said article also celebrated Cusco's food culture and varied cultural expressions. 

PromPeru

According to Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Foreign Visitor Profile, the United States stands as the country's second tourist feeder.

Average stay of U.S. tourists in Peru is 13 nights. They spend about US$1,444 and 60% of them are holiday-makers.

Their favorite destinations include Lima, Cusco, and Puno.
