U.S. supports strengthening of professional police training in Peru

Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Peru Denison Offutt participated on Monday in the opening of the 5th Annual Conference of the International Police Education Network (RINIEP): "Challenge for Police Education in the 21st Century," held in the southern Andean city of Cusco.

Offutt noted that the U.S. Embassy's International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section (INL) supports this joint effort in order to strengthen the police work and professional training. 



The international conference is organized by the National Professional Police Training School of the National Police of Peru (PNP) and financed by the U.S. Embassy in Lima.

The event was attended by representatives of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.

The opening featured Deputy Minister of Public Safety Victor Rucoba, PNP Executive Secretary Jose Baella, National Police Professional Training School Director Manuel Vasquez, representatives of RINIEP academic institutions, and local authorities.
