United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday congratulated the Peruvian people on the occasion of their 202nd Anniversary of Independence.

"On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my best wishes to the Peruvian people on the anniversary of Peru's independence," Blinken expressed, according to an official press statement by the U.S. State Department.

"The ties between our nations began in 1826, and our relationship today remains strong as we work together to create opportunities for inclusive economic growth and uphold our commitments to democracy and human rights," he highlighted.

Within this framework, the Chief of U.S. diplomacy emphasized his country's wish to continue collaborating with Peru.

"We look forward to our continued collaboration, including through the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation during Peru's 2024 host year, and the U.S.-Peru Environmental Cooperation Agreement," the U.S. government official expressed.

"May our joint efforts support prosperity for our two nations and continue to be a driving force for a strong, peaceful, and democratic hemisphere. Congratulations as you celebrate this joyous occasion," he concluded.
