U.S.: Peru a trustworthy partner consistent with transnational crime fight

13:08 | Paracas (Ica region), Nov. 30.

The United States sees Peru as a very trustworthy partner consistent with the fight against transnational crime, U.S. Ambassador to Lima Krishna R. Urs affirmed Friday.

Thus, Washington D.C. will continue working closely with the Peruvian Government on this subject.

Likewise, the official indicated bilateral cooperation also applies to the combat against corruption.

"This is one of the key concerns in the U.S.-Peru relations. It is also one of the central axes in the fight against organized transnational crime," Urs expressed.

Furthermore, he indicated the Inca country has made progress in improving competitiveness, which results in better opportunities for economic development and the signing of trade agreements, such as the United States-Peru Free Trade Agreement (PTPA).

"We have a Free Trade Agreement with Peru. We have significantly expanded trade between the two nations due to Peruvian economy's competitiveness," the Ambassador added.

"However, this could be further improved," he concluded.

Remarks were made during the 56th edition of the Annual Conference of Executives (CADE-Executives 2018) currently underway in Paracas, Peru.
