The United States Embassy in Lima on Tuesday expressed confidence in Peru's institutions, adding that it hopes to work with the new government once the National Election Board (JNE) announces the presidential runoff election official results.

Via Twitter, the embassy affirmed that it values the strong and lasting collaboration with Peru, which "is based on shared values, respect for the democratic process, and the rule of law."

The JNE has to resolve the requests for the nullity of some voting records filed by parties Fuerza Popular and Peru Libre.

Once this process has been completed, it will announce the official results and proclaim the winner of the 2021 presidential runoff election.

The next President of the Republic is expected to be sworn in on July 28, 2021, when the 200th anniversary of Peru's Independence will be celebrated.
