British Ambassador to Peru Kate Harrisson on Friday highlighted the collaboration between Peruvian and British institutions on the clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the diplomat, the joint efforts between the two countries —in order to respond to the pandemic and overcome the disease— constitute an important step.

"I am very happy that British and Peruvian institutions are collaborating on the clinical trials of the vaccine. This is a very important step to cope with the pandemic and defeat COVID-19. Both countries must work hand in hand," she posted on Twitter.

On Thursday, UK's flagship laboratory, AstraZeneca, announced that Peru is included in the Phase III clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine developed together with the University of Oxford.

"This confirms that international cooperation is vital to tackle the pandemic," the British Embassy in Lima said via Twitter.
