Sixth Vaccinathon kicks off in Peru

The Sixth Vaccinathon has begun in Lima Metropolitan Area, Callao, and 17 other regions across the country, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) has confirmed.

The 36-hour-long event kicked off this Saturday at 7:00 a.m. (local time) and will come to an end on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. 

The goal is to administer 600,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine across the selected zones.

Said regions also include Amazonas, Ancash, Apurimac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Huanuco, Ica, Junin, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima provinces, Loreto, Piura, Puno, San Martin, Ucayali, and Cajamarca.

In Metropolitan Lima and Callao, 28 vaccination centers will welcome citizens aged 36 and above —whose appointment information can be found on the government's 'Pongo el Hombro' (I Lend a Shoulder) website and are expected to be administered the first dose.

The special drive will also provide second doses to those who are behind schedule and groups of people with comorbidities such as: citizens with rare diseases, cancer, or transplanted organs.

The Sinopharm jab will be administered to people aged 36-44 who are eligible to receive the first dose in Lima and Callao, while the Pfizer vaccine will be given as a second dose.
