After several months of coordination, and thanks to the active management by Peru's Commission for Promotion of Export and Tourism (PromPeru) and other public entities, the establishment of the "Executive Bureau for the Promotion of Peru as a Destination for Filming Locations" was recently announced in the Official Gazette El Peruano.

This committee aims to address, identify, promote, and propose actions that will make Peru an attractive destination for international audiovisual productions.

The measure is aimed at contributing to Peru's economic growth by creating a space for coordination between the public and private sectors so as to discuss benefits and incentives for those interested in filming series, soap operas, movies, documentaries, and other audiovisual productions.

"With the creation of this Executive Bureau, we must fulfill and contribute in a sustainable and responsible manner to the identification of problems, difficulties, and barriers, as well as to the development of proposed solutions and their implementation, among other aspects, in order to promote the development and competitiveness of Peru as a filming location destination in the public interest," PromPeru's Executive-President Ricardo Limo said.

The formation of the new Executive Bureau is based on Resolution No. 255-2023 EF/10, which is framed within Urgency Decree No. 022-2019, promoting cinematographic and audiovisual activities in the country.

PromPeru was designated as the entity in charge of promoting the use of national territory as filming locations.

According to the resolution, in addition to PromPeru, the committee will also include representatives from the Ministries of Economy-Finance, Culture, Transportation-Communications, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Foreign Trade-Tourism; as well as from the National Superintendence of Tax Administration (SUNAT), the National Service for Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP), the National Assembly of Regional Governments, the Peruvian Association of Municipalities, the Peruvian Association of Film Producers, the Peruvian Association of Filmmakers, the Peruvian Association of Film Companies, and the Peruvian Association of Cinematographic Photography Authors.

Currently, the Film in Peru website features a catalog of locations with significant content from different destinations in our country.

In addition, PromPeru plans to create an audiovisual catalog of selected locations in Peru so as to provide dynamic content.

During the past year, PromPeru has provided continuous support to national and international productions, such as "Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar" by Tondero (Peru) for Netflix, "La Reina del Sur - Season 3" by Telemundo and Netflix (United States), "Don't Look Up" by Netflix (United States), and "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" by Paramount Pictures (United States).

This year, PromPeru is also supporting the third installment of "Paddington."
